the battle for britain
Why “battle”, why “fight” and why is the Lord calLing forth an army?
“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” 2 Tim 2:3-4
“The weapons of our warfare” 2 Cor 10:3
“Fight the good fight of faith” 1 Tim 6:12
“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Matt 10:7-8
Britain is beyond political help - we must have another Great Awakening. Our Lord Jesus has won the ultimate victory at Calvary, through His life, death, resurrection and ascension. We His church are sent by Him to proclaim His victory and redemption, the gospel, and so advance His kingdom, on earth as it is in heaven.
This involves a potentially bloody fight and it’s not our fists that shed the blood (Heb 12:4). The Bible is filled from start to finish with battles, war, blood and death. From Genesis to Revelation we see a fight between heaven and hell. The primary dividing line is that between the Old and New Testaments the battle, the warfare, the armies, transition from physical, in the Old Testament (though even those battles are still spiritual in origin) to entirely spiritual and supernatural.
The church of Jesus is in a supernatural fight with the kingdom of the devil. Our weapons are spiritual: faith, hope, love, the bond-servant leading of the Holy Spirit, prayer, healing, demonic exorcism, bold proclamation of truth and the gospel in the highways, byways and from the rooftops.
Is that your experience of church?
Also noteworthy is that on top of the fact that the above “Book of Acts” depiction of church life is very rare, now the population and age of the church is both few (2% of the UK population) and old, generally. Furthermore, darkness, wickedness and idolatry has mushroomed in the space of just a few years.
The church is losing Britain. Beoved, we are in the 11th hour.
“i’ll Fight” - gen. william Booth
The fight, the Battle for Britain is spiritual, won or lost by the church of Jesus. So goes the church, so goes the nation. With all due respect and honour to those faithful who have gone before, for the last century, generally, the western church has not fought like soldiers, we have coasted like slumbering, part-time civilians. Western, civilian “churchianity” is dying. And it needs to, fast, in order to make way for what God is about to do.
The LGBTQI neo-marxists are out in the streets marching, waving flags (their banner, doctrine and ideology is everywhere), transforming education, taking over our calendars, indoctrinating the land. The Muslims are out in every major city evangelising daily and recruiting our disenfranchised young adults by their droves, whilst birthing enormous families and refusing to be pushed around religiously, socially, politically. In fact, if I may be so bold, they are pushing us around. Meanwhile, the church has been largely passive, asleep, gentile, English and, as such, most importantly un Christ-like.
Irrespective of end-time eschatology, “Battle”, “fight” and “Army” are not only timeless biblical mandates but also “now” prophetic words for the western church. The Lord is calling forth His army to fight spiritually like obedient soldiers, to unite across sectarian and denominational dividing lines and differences, to pray without ceasing, to preach the gospel boldly everywhere, push back darkness, plunder hell and populate heaven.
What are we not fighting for?
The church of Jesus is not in a racial battle, we are not in an ethnic battle, neither are we involved in a nationalistic battle - we are involved in a spiritual battle for the purposes of God and the Lordship of Jesus over people, the nation of Britain and nations.
what are we fighting for?
1. The lost and PERISHING
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:15-16
We are fighting for the lost souls of Britain and the decaying soul of Britain.
2. For a holy, spotless Bride: the king’s army
‘You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.’ 2 Tim 2:3-4
We are fighting for the readiness of the Bride of Christ, the maturation of the army of the Lord, obedient to her commissioning Officer King Jesus, willing to endure hardship and suffering for His name’s sake.
3. Righteousness and Justice in our land
‘He loves righteousness and justice’ Psalm 33:5
We are fighting for righteousness and justice which are the foundations of His throne (Psalm 89:14). We are fighting for righteous government, righteous leadership, righteous business, righteous education and righteous, covenantal, family life. We are fighting for justice for the poor, the unborn, the marginalised. and more.
4. Freedom in our land
‘It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then’ Galatians 5:1
We are fighting for biblical freedom. Jesus came to bring freedom; spiritual freedom beyond circumstance but also freedom into circumstance. The freedom of heaven invading a bound, enslaved and enslaving earth. Free speech in a nation, in her streets, her education system and political world. Freedom of parenting, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, freedom to gather, freedom to pray however and wherever. Free speech is the bedrock of democracy, all political freedom and was paid for in Britain with the blood of the martyrs and the soldiers in two world wars. May we not despise that sacrifice with our cowardice, gnosticism, subconscious statism (government is god) or poisonous pietism (everything is private, no public Christianity).
5. the Britain that God wants
‘Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name Yah,
And rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.
God sets the solitary in families;
He brings out those who are bound into prosperity’ Psalm 68:4-6
Globalist, borderless, uniformity is not from God. God speaks order, “kind”, variety and function throughout His creation. Male and female, unique species, night and day, seasons, the list goes on ad infinitum. Irrespective of differing eschatological theology, we believe it is right to fight spiritually for God’s original design and ordination for Britain: to be a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, a family-maker. This is who we have been historically and God has not changed His mind about our calling and gift to the worldwide church.
We are fighting for Christ to be Lord over our nation, exalted and central, rather than any idolatrous alternative (for every nation is theocratic and has a god, an orthodoxy, sacraments, even penalties for “blasphemers”).
We are fighting for the recovery of the Britain whose church once helped free the western world from religious and political tyranny, founded western democracy, founded the western education system (which gave everyone a chance to read and write), founded the hospital system as we know it, established the sanctity of life, founded modern science and medicine, was at the root of the Renaissance, even helped start the English football league!
We are fighting for the Britain whose church missioned and colonised the dark, demonic, heathen world more than any other with light, truth and salvation, the Britain drenched with the blood of the faithful martyrs, whose relative political and social liberty gained we have enjoyed and prospered under for hundreds of years.
How do we fight?
1. Unity and love
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!2 It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the Lord commanded the blessing—
Life forevermore. Psalm 133
We fight through establishing unity and love in the remnant bride of Christ: across every denomination and stream. Not token unity, proper skin-in-the-game, agape-love, servant-hearted, costly unity and partnership which militates against names, titles, egos, territorialism and ministry brands. An army divided is easy to deal with, whereas the King’s army united, moving in step with our Commander King Jesus is unstoppable. The gates of hell cannot prevail against her. What’s more The blessing will be commanded (Psalm 133) and the world will see true disciples of Jesus (John 13:35)
2. Consecration, Holiness, soldier discipleship
And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Cor 6:16-18
We fight by becoming a holy people, set apart, who fear God and carry a cross. Worldliness has come into the church, instead of the church turning the world upside down. Large sections of the church have sacrificed the absolute truths in the word of God on the altar of political correctness. We must return to the whole counsel of God, the word of God without compromise, both His kindness and His severity, both heaven and hell, the Spirit of God without measure, the mission of God without boundaries, discipleship without limits.
3. Prayer-fuelled Proclamation of the gospel every place
“Preach on the housetops. And do not fear” Matt 10:27-28
We fight by fulfilling of the Great commission as the army of the Lord. We must get spiritually possessive again, active, radically missional and take back the Lord’s inheritance in the land! May the Lamb of God receive the reward of His suffering. Our weapons are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds and arguments which exalt themselves above the knowledge of God (2 Cor 10:3-5): unceasing prayer and bold proclamation of the original gospel, every place. An army of intercessors. An army of bold, sacrificial , evangelists raised up and thrust out to share and preach the whole undiluted gospel in the highways, byways, schools, everywhere.
